TAHI is a commercial free, editorially independent, public service media platform created for the rangatahi of Aotearoa. TAHI exists to connect rangatahi with the music, stories and culture of Aotearoa .
Music is the TAHI
TAHI is here – a new platform from RNZ, for rangatahi. TAHI begins with music, a stream at TAHI.fm that’s at least 40% local and features heaps of genres. There are Spotify playlists, plus live performances and plenty of music-related content, and TAHI is on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook.
Audience research showed that rangatahi love all kinds of music and they’re not committed to just listening to one style. TAHI will play and highlight lots of different genres.
TAHI Music Scheduler Harrison Pali says that TAHI will showcase music from young artists that are starting out in addition to established acts from Aotearoa and the world.
“We think that the best type of music is made when an artist creates their own authentic sound, so you won’t just hear radio bangers on TAHI. Our audience research showed that rangatahi are passionate about lots of different music genres and artists, TAHI will play and highlight all kinds of music, especially local.”
Core local artists on the TAHI playlist at launch include Baynk, BENEE, CHAII, Church & AP, JessB, Mikey Dam, Muroki, Paige, Reuben Fleetwood and SACHI. There are also tunes from Adam Snow, Balu Brigada, Bexy, Broods, Dual, Foley, Georgia Lines,
Imugi 이무기, Isla Noon, Kings, MELODOWNZ, Navvy, Rei, RIIKI, Rory Noble, Sam V, SWIDT, Thomston and Y$O. You can check out the full list of new releases in rotation including the international artists updated each week on The TAHI List.
